A video messaging app to bring friends closer.

Kitty is a startup launching a new video-only messaging app. Its key feature stitches everyone’s videos into a single message: create a group for a birthday party, invite friends, everyone sends a video, and the group admin picks the best ones, stitches them together and sends one video to the birthday person.

Challenge social interactions by creating a link between loved ones who aren’t close. The idea started with the desire to be the antithesis of what we know as traditional social media.
The product puts the user’s privacy at the core of the business, providing a safe space where people can be uninhibited when expressing themselves.

Understand the target users, sketch ideas, create flows and validate with potential users. Then define the visual direction of the product and build prototypes.

Before moving on to high-fidelity designs, I created low-fi wireframes of the app based on the client’s requirements, so I could optimise the user flow. I then set up a prototype to put in front of potential users, to identify pain points and prioritise which features to keep or add for the MVP.

Once the key features were chosen, the high-fidelity design of the product began. We decided to use some existing patterns from social and chat apps to reduce the learning curve and improve acceptance of the product.
